Skyforce Anniversary - Vita Its a bit grindy (although not as grindy as me. Sky Force Anniversary features an extensive single-player campaign where your main objective is to save the world from General Mantis - the nasty leader of evil forces. When creating Sky Force Anniversary, our main goal was to preserve the old school, arcade shooter feeling of the original and make the game bigger, bolder, and more intense than ever. Sky Force Anniversary is a recreation of Sky Force, a title we made more than a decade ago - it made quite an impact on the whole mobile gaming industry. The weapons are equally bland, unless you’re a really big fan of…well, boring weapons. There’s not a whole lot of variation in the enemies, nor in the environments - it’s lots of planes over water, and a few boats and islands to mix things up. The thing is, that’s all it has to offer. The controls are simple, the objectives are straightforward, and it looks about as good as it needs to. In fact, I have no doubt that if you’re a shmup fan, you’ll find it to be perfectly adequate. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad game or anything. There’s nothing in Sky Force Anniversary that makes me think I need to rethink that position. There are undoubtedly some exceptions (like Shutshimi), but for the most part, I find they get repetitive pretty quickly. As I wrote a little over a year ago, shmups generally don’t hold my attention for too long. ![]()
